For almost a week, apprentices studying some of the highest paying skilled trades in Australia undertook the 2024 Global Skills Challenge at Holmesglen’s Chadstone campus.
The competition, run by WorldSkills Australia and supported by TAFE Victoria, featured students from around the globe and was the final warm-up heat before the 47th WorldSkills International Championships in Lyon, France.
Holmesglen’s trade areas hosted 51 students from some of the top Australian and international plumbing and heating, wall and floor tiling, bricklaying, painting and decorating, carpentry and cabinet making courses.
Among them were several members of the Australian Skillaroos – our nation’s best skilled trades students – who won gold at the event for Carpentry, Bricklaying, Industrial Mechanics, Mechatronics and Beauty Therapy.
Holmesglen Institute’s own apprentices won several gold, silver and bronze medals at last year’s national competitions and students from across our campuses have a long and successful track record at WorldSkills.
We wish all competitors the best of luck at the Championships.
