Entry Requirements

An IELTS score of 6.0 is necessary. For equivalent English language tests see <a href="https://immi.homeaffairs.gov.au/visas/getting-a-visa/visa-listing/student-500#Eligibility">https://immi.homeaffairs.gov.au/visas/getting-a-visa/visa-listing/student-500#Eligibility</a>.<br>Prior to starting classes, learners must complete the BKSB test for math and English through the International Department. Most units in the training package have requirements at ACSF levels or below: Reading ACSF 2, Writing ACSF 2, and Numeracy ACSF 2. Literacy requirements involve analysing textual information for accurate interpretation of job specifications and using industry-related terminology. Numeracy requirements include interpreting numeric data and applying mathematical calculations for design specifications.

Recognition of prior learning

You may be able to reduce the number of units to be studied in your chosen course by measuring skills acquired through work, life experiences or qualifications obtained from formal studies or training. Course Structure

Timetable

To receive this qualification, you must complete 17 units in total, comprising of 7 core units and 10 elective units. <p>Elective units have been chosen by Holmesglen based on feedback from industry and staff qualifications.<p>Full-time study program is delivered in 2 semesters. Each semester comprises of 17 weeks of delivery. An average weekly attendance is 20 hours per week over 3–5 days per week.  Learners complete approximately 50% of the program in each semester, starting with foundation design skills in their first semester and progressing to more challenging skills and more complex briefs in their second semester.

Assessment

Assessments are designed to provide learners with opportunities to demonstrate they have attained the required skills and knowledge using a range of practically based activities and tasks, as required by recognised standards.
