The Diploma of Building and Construction (Building) CPC50220 has been designed to meet the needs of a building professional who coordinates the construction of a building, taking responsibility for the overall completion of the job, including selecting contractors, overseeing the work and its quality, and liaising with the client.

Entry Requirements

It is advisable for learners to have completed year 11, as a minimum, have at least 3 years of experience in a relevant trade or in a supervisory position in the building and construction industry, in addition to holding the appropriate levels literacy and numeracy.
Prior to enrolment or commencement of training you will be required to complete a literacy and numeracy assessment and a pre-training interview. These will assist with determining your suitability to the course, verify your training plan, and identify any learning support needs.

Recognition of prior learning

You may be able to reduce the number of units to be studied in your chosen course by measuring skills acquired through work, life experiences or qualifications obtained from formal studies or training. Timetable

To receive this qualification, you must complete 27 units in total, comprising of 24 core units and 3 elective units. Elective units have been chosen by Holmesglen based on feedback from industry and staff qualifications.<p>If the learner has already completed other eligible elective units, these will be counted towards completion of this program.<p>Students who have completed CPC40110 Certificate IV in Building and Construction (Building), will have some exemption for the CPC50220 Diploma of Building and Construction.

Additional Course Cost

In the event that onsite excursion are allowed and on the schedule, the required personal protective equipment students will need to supply is: Safety boots (steel capped, ankle height) Safety pants <br>Work shirt (waist length jacket, if cold) Safety glasses Hat for sun protection <br>Sunscreen (if exposed to sunlight) <br>Safety Gloves (if handling building materials) <br>If additional safety equipment is required, it will be supplied by the Institute The total cost of these items is between $200 - $250. <br>Students will be required to hold a construction induction card (White Card). To attain this card, students will be required to complete a one-day course (at Holmesglen or another accredited training provider) prior to commencing this course. The cost of this program is between $150 - $200. <br>Detailed consumables and equipment list will be provided to students upon enrolment. Computers are available in tutorial classrooms. <br>•USB connected headset if using class computers while teacher is remote $55 <br>Recommended other items: <br>•Recommended book - George Wilkie: Building Your own Home $ 40 <br>•Recommended for homework - Suitable home computer capable to run Microsoft suite including Word , Excel and PowerPoint . Office365 is available for free. Microsoft Project will be available on the classroom computers.
