The program typically covers topics such as interpreting work documents, selecting materials, using hand and power tools, preparing surfaces, assembling components, installing hardware, computer numerically controlled (CNC) machining and processing centres.<p>Throughout the course, students learn about different types of joinery techniques, timber selection, furniture design principles, and the use of specialized CNC equipment and machinery commonly employed in the cabinet making industry. They also gain practical skills in workshop safety, quality control, teamwork, and communication skills.<p>Upon successful completion of the Certificate III in Cabinet Making and Timber Technology, graduates can pursue a range of career opportunities in the furniture and cabinetry industry. They may work as cabinet makers, furniture manufacturers, joinery specialists, or installation technicians in businesses such as kitchen and bathroom companies, furniture production companies, or specialized cabinetry workshops.
You may be able to reduce the number of units to be studied in your chosen course by measuring skills acquired through work, life experiences or qualifications obtained from formal studies or training. AQF qualifications and statements of attainment issued by another registered training organisation will be recognised by Holmesglen.
