Studying the Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care at Holmesglen

Through a combination of face-to-face, online and practicum based learning, you will acquire the necessary skills and knowledge to work effectively as a professional team member in an early childhood service.<p>These skills include gaining an understanding of legal and ethical requirements, engaging with young children and their families, facilitating children's leisure and play, and fostering holistic development and wellbeing.<p>Graduates may work under direct supervision and may also have limited supervisory responsibilities of volunteers.

Entry Requirements

To be eligible, students must be at least 17 years of age at the commencement of the program.<p>Students must be able to participate in assessable industry placements to successfully complete the course. A current Working With Children Check card is required for placement and proof of COVID-19 vaccination may be required for placement by individual centres or businesses.<p>Candidates must be able to physically complete the practicum requirements of this course.<p>Candidates must present evidence of COVID-19 vaccination to be eligible for on-campus studies and practical placement in an education and care service.
Prior to enrolment or commencement of training you will be required to complete a literacy and numeracy assessment and a pre-training interview. These will assist with determining your suitability to the course, verify your training plan, and identify any learning support needs.

Recognition of prior learning

You may be able to reduce the number of units to be studied in your chosen course by measuring skills acquired through work, life experiences or qualifications obtained from formal studies or training. Course Structure

Timetable

Classes run from 9am to 4pm - Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday (four days per week on campus)<p>Learners are required to participate in a total of 180 hours comprising of 3 blocks of 2 weeks placements in a Registered Education and Care service. Start and finish times will vary on practical placement between the hours of 6.30am to 6.30pm.
