Studying the Diploma of Conservation and Ecosystem Management at Holmesglen

As an integral part of the course you will be provided with a broad base of technical and practical skills which incorporates field work and on-site training.<p>In agreement with public land management entities, you will be given the opportunity to train on-site in natural area restoration programs, which will assist you in your professional development, leading towards a career as a land manager.

Entry Requirements

To be eligible, students must be at least 16 years of age.
Prior to enrolment or commencement of training you will be required to complete a literacy and numeracy assessment and a pre-training interview. These will assist with determining your suitability to the course, verify your training plan, and identify any learning support needs.

Recognition of prior learning

You may be able to reduce the number of units to be studied in your chosen course by measuring skills acquired through work, life experiences or qualifications obtained from formal studies or training. Assessment

Assessments are designed to provide learners with opportunities to demonstrate they have attained the required skills and knowledge using a range of practically based activities and tasks, as required by recognised standards.

The required personal protective equipment students will need to supply is: Safety boots (steel capped, ankle height) Safety pants <br>Work shirt (waist length jacket, if cold) Safety glasses Ear protection <br>Hat for sun protection <br>Sunscreen (if exposed to sunlight) <br>Safety Gloves (if handling building materials) Note pad / Biro The total cost of these items is between $250 - $300 <br>If additional safety equipment is required, it will be supplied by the Institute.
