Studying the Certificate IV in Youth Work at Holmesglen

You will acquire essential skills to effectively interact with young people and achieve optimal outcomes for their welfare. The course covers:<p>• Understanding and working with diverse cultural perspectives, promoting health and safety in those communities.<br>• Building key relationships and trust.<br>• Assessing and responding to young people's needs, connecting them with relevant services.<br>• Fostering youth participation and facilitating positive community connections.<br>• Responding to critical situations, including homelessness.<br>• Supporting youth dealing with mental health, alcohol, and substance use issues.<p>Guided by experienced teachers with youth work expertise, you'll actively engage in running group sessions to establish connections and rapport with young individuals.

Entry Requirements

Students must be 18 years old at the start of the course. Before beginning, a valid Working with Children Check and a satisfactory National Police Check are mandatory. Additionally, an NDIS worker screening check may be necessary prior to the start of the course. Ensure you meet these requirements for smooth course commencement.
Prior to enrolment or commencement of training you will be required to complete a literacy and numeracy assessment and a pre-training interview.<p>These will assist with determining your suitability to the course, verify your training plan, and identify any learning support needs.

Recognition of prior learning

You may be able to reduce the number of units to be studied in your chosen course by measuring skills acquired through work, life experiences or qualifications obtained from formal studies or training. <strong>Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, 9.30am - 3.30pm</strong><p>To receive this qualification, you must complete 17 units in total, comprising of 15 core units and 2 elective units. Additional Course Cost

Students will be required to obtain a National Police Records Check and Working with Children Check. The approximate cost of these items is $140.
