The Certificate IV In Laboratory Techniques provides you with training in all aspects of laboratory operations, including Work health and safety (WHS), use of analytical instrumentation (manual, semi-automated and automated), laboratory management systems (LMS), aseptic, chemistry, microscopy, and different biological techniques.

Studying the Certificate IV in Laboratory Techniques at Holmesglen

Learn from our experienced teaching staff, who all hold postgraduate qualifications across a variety of science disciplines.<p>The course is delivered in Holmesglen's specialised pathology and biotechnology education facility, where an emphasis is placed on practical training.<p>Our instrumentation is reflective of what you will use in industry and will prepare you to confidently start your career in a laboratory.<p>Holmesglen graduates are well regarded in the industry and are employed in the pathology, food, environmental, education, and research industries.<p>After the successful completion of all units in the Certificate IV in Laboratory Techniques course, students will have the option of consolidating their training by way of a non-compulsory work placement, under the direct supervision of industry professionals. Students who opt to take up a work placement will also need to provide Holmesglen with a current police check and a Volunteer Working with Children’s Check.

Entry Requirements

To be eligible, applicants must be 18 years of age at course commencement.<p>Prior to enrolment or commencement of training, you will be required to complete a literacy and numeracy assessment and a pre-training interview. These will assist with determining your suitability for the course, verify your training plan, and identify any learning support needs.

Recognition of prior learning

You may be able to reduce the number of units to be studied in your chosen course by measuring skills acquired through work, life experiences or qualifications obtained from formal studies or training.
