Studying the Certificate III in Pathology Collection at Holmesglen

You will be trained in areas including phlebotomy (blood collection), infection control, ECG, first aid, customer service, work organisation and medical terminology.<p>The course is delivered at Holmesglen's specialised pathology and biotechnology education facility, where emphasis is placed on practical training. Entry Requirements

Good passes in all subjects at Year 12/ Matriculation or the overseas equivalent. English language proficiency equivalent to IELTS 6.0 with no individual band score less than 6.0.<br> For equivalent English language tests see <a href="https://immi.homeaffairs.gov.au/visas/getting-a-visa/visa-listing/student-500#Eligibility">https://immi.homeaffairs.gov.au/visas/getting-a-visa/visa-listing/student-500#Eligibility</a>. Learners must be 18 years of age at course commencement. In order to comply with the recommendations of the Australian Government, Department of Health, and current pathology placement requirements, the following serology evidence must be provided prior to course commencement.<p>- Hepatitis B Surface antibodies<br>- Hepatitis C <br>- Hepatitis A Ab<br>- HIV<br>- Measles / Mumps / Rubella<br>- (MMR)Varicella<br>- Chicken Pox<br>- Diphtheria, Tetanus & Pertussis<br>- Polio<br>- Tuberculosis<br>- COVID-19 including booster<br>- Influenza<p>Learners will be required to pass a national police records check prior to placements, and meet clinical placement immunisation requirements stated above.<p>Typically, eligible learners will have the ability to:<br>• Interact, communicate and work in small teams<br>• Comprehend technical reading material (Instrumentation Manuals, Standard Operating Procedures and Material Safety Data Sheets etc.)<br>• Problem solve such as identifying when data is outside expected results and identifying possible causes<br>• Apply basic digital literacy<br> A physical ability to stand for long periods and fine motor control are recommended.

Recognition of prior learning

You may be able to reduce the number of units to be studied in your chosen course by measuring skills acquired through work, life experiences or qualifications obtained from formal studies or training. Timetable

To receive this qualification you must complete 9 core units and 5 elective units. Holmesglen has chosen elective units based on industry feedback around the skills required for the job. If you have already completed other eligible units, they may be counted towards this program.<p><strong>February Intake:</strong><br>Group A: Monday 9am-4pm, Tuesday and Wednesday 9am-5pm<br>Group B: Monday 9am-4pm, Thursday and Friday 9am-5pm<p><strong>July Intake:</strong><br>Group C: Monday 9am-4pm, Tuesday and Wednesday 9am-5pm<br>Group D: Monday 9am-4pm, Thursday and Friday 9am-5pm<p>Delivery occurs over 16 weeks which includes teacher led face-to-face classes, blended delivery, and industry placement of a minimum 35hrs conducted at the end of course delivery. Learners engage in face-to-face training 3 days per week.
